0800-1030 -HANDS ON WORKSHOP – So you want to get (back) on packet? - Here is your chance for some real-time help. The following basics will be presented - there will be plenty of help.  Take advantage of this opportunity.  If you don't have a Win95/ 98/ 2000/ XP laptop to bring, come and observe so you will see how to do this on your computer at home or at your EOC.

 

1.     Loading the following programs on your Win2000 or WinXP computer:

a)     MS Dot Net Framework 1.1 (Do it yourself before you leave home if possible. Just do a Google search “download net framework” and use Windows Update.)

b)    AGW PE free

c)     AGW terminal

d)    AGW digi

e)     Paclink Post Office

f)      Paclink AGW

 

2.     On this computer or a Win95/98 computer

g)     Winpack Terminal Program

h)     Airmail 3.0.22

i)       Telpac Node

 

3.  Making the TNC LEDS blink using b,c,d,f, g, h, and i above.

 

If you also bring a (working) TNC and an RS-232 cable for the TNC to your computer, you will go home with all this working.  If you do not have a TNC there will be one for you to use during the workshop as a proof of principle.  Do not bring your vhf radio unless you have a TNC-to-radio cable already wired for that. 1030-1100 - THE FLORIDA LAYERED PACKET NETWORK AND HOW TO NAVIGATE IT.  Local Area Networks (LANS) – The Building Blocks of the Network; switch components; how a switch functions; network addressing; connect Scripts; Telnet links, packet Bulletin Boards, Telpac Nodes. MODERATOR: WB4MOZ.

 

1100- 1130 CURRENT STATUS OF THE FLORIDA LAYERED PACKET NETWORK.  Which LANs are active; status of interconnecting backbones; current fixes and upgrades in process, where additional LANs are needed, backbones needed to bring the new LANs into the network. MODERATORS WB4MOZ, WB4KGYassisted by FADCA District Directors and anyone else who knows current device status.

 

1130 –1200 - FADCA FREQUENCY COORIDATION DATA BASE AND FADCA WEB PAGES – Status, updating, new data base program, suggestions for upgrading/ changing presentations.  New data base manager needed. MODERATORS N4KOX, W1NPR

 

1200-1230 -  LUNCH BREAK – Pizza, sub sandwiches, soft drinks, water in the EOC break room.

 

1230-1300TOUR OF SEMINOLE COUNTY EOC AND ARES RADIO SHACK– Small groups with local ARES guides.

 

1300-1330 PORTABLE PACKET STATION DEMONSTRATION (Bring yours!) For sure N3PPC, N6ZUE, N0IA, and KI4FH.  May include new USB TNC and sound card packet.

 

1330 – 1400 ARES AND E-MAIL OVER HAM RADIO IN SUPPORT OF EMCOMMS IN FLORIDA.  What we need to do to provide this modern method of supporting served agencies during communications emergencies. MODERATOR N0IA - group discussion.

 

1400 - 1430NETWORK DRIVE TESTING: Giving a definitive answer to the question "can you hear me now?" – Chuck KP4DJT will demonstrate his company’s software that maps network coverage.  Chuck hopes to be able to map the Florida Layered Packet Network Coverage. MODERATOR KP4DJT.

 

1430-1500LINUX FPACWhat LINUX has to offer, how to get there. LINUX box on display, and more.  MODERATORS KP4DJT, K4GBB, N3PPC, (a.k.a. ‘The Three Charlies’)

 

1500-1530HIGH SPEED DATA - BACKBONES 9.6KB UHF, 38.4KB 900MHZ.  Basic problems, types of data controllers, radios, antennas, combine 9.6kb user access using shared voice repeater, and more.  MODERATORS KA0OXH, KP4DJP, N4KOX.

 

1530-1600 – PC/FlexNet – A SMART AX-25 NETWORKING SYSTEM MODERATOR K2BJG (Palm Bay) – FlexNet is widely used in the north east US and Europe.

 

1600-1630  - HF MODES FOR SUPPORTING E-MAIL OVER HAM RADIO and WL2K 2000 SYSTEM Q&A. – Pactor, Packet, SCAMP.  MODERATOR N0IA and anyone else who is knowledgeable.
